Crowns and Bridges

What is a crown?

Dental crowns cover over and encase the tooth (like a helmet) on which they are cemented. Crowns are used to rebuild broken or decayed teeth, to strengthen teeth and can also improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth.

There are 3 main types of crown, a metal one (gold alloy) a hybrid (metal and porcelain) and all porcelain.

What is a bridge?

A bridge is a collection of crowns which are joined together. They are permanently fixed in the mouth
to replace missing teeth. It uses remaining teeth to support the new artificial tooth or teeth.
